Where to Live in Guanacaste Costa Rica
The province of Guanacaste is teaming with nature, micro climates from the Pacific coastal dry forests to rain forests. So how to choose where to live……
Panama Beach: Located in the Papagayo Gulf, this is probably one of Guanacaste’s beautiful beaches, perfect for families who enjoy the mix of laid-back environment but also adventure and sports. Close by you will find local restaurants, bars and shopping areas. The Liberia airport is only 20 minutes away.
Hermosa: This is a small beach front community with several gated residential complexes. Located on the Bahia de Papagayo (renamed by the Four Seasons) beautiful views are one of the main reasons many choose to live here, surrounded by nature and just a short drive away from National Parks and other more “developed” areas such as Playas del Coco. You can enjoy the privacy of Hermosa and still have, just a few minutes away, all the convenience of the established community of Playas del Coco, where you can find a variety of shops and restaurants.
Flamingo: This is a real residential community. Perfect for top end homes and condos and for families looking to be close to CRIA or La Paz schools. Here you will find ocean view or beach front properties, a beautiful white sand beach and deep blue ocean, a few restaurants and small supermarkets are also found in this area. Recommended for those that seek peace and relaxation with all needed amenities. Flamingo is also just a short drive away from Tamarindo if you want to enjoy a night out or do some shopping.
Tamarindo: This is where the ‘action’ is. If you want to be able to enjoy the beach and different eco-tourism activities but at the same time you like to be close to restaurants, bars, and shopping centers, this is the ideal place for you. This is a very popular tourist destination because it caters to surfers and those who seek the night life. Hacienda Pinilla is a very popular residential community that is close by and is home to the JW Marriott and an 18 hole golf course.
Further south you will find…..
Nosara: A like-minded community with an unspoiled beach. Here are many custom homes where you can find traditional and fancy restaurants, yoga retreats and mostly a great environment. Given it’s southern location this is for those who wish to get away from it all and immerse themselves in a completely different lifestyle. This is the place if you love surfing!
